Belonging to me: $10,000.00 In a reatail store that I used to work in, I would get sent to make purchases on behalf of the business. I would have $15 or $20 thousand on me then, but it wasn't mine. I also kept up with the cash coming in at our business and people would sometimes get near the cash register, so it was safer for me to keep the cash coming in in my pocket and turn it over to the owner when it was possible. I laundered some money . . . REALLY laundered it. I had several thousand dollars in my pants pocket when I came home from work, I put my clothes in the wash, then through the dryer. The next day when I opened the dryer, all of this cash came out and fell on the floor. I gathered it all together and took it back to work with me the next day. It was unharmed and very clean. That was about 15 years ago.

And I felt on top of the world.
Now I carry only what I wouldn't mind loosing at the time.
I do travel to exotic places though.
My maxim is don't carry it with you unless you can afford to loose it. I always keep a hidden Visa card or similar separate from my main cash/baggage

I once walked out of a Bank carrying $180,000 of someone else's money in a backpack on my back.
I wasn't a security guard or working for the Bank either. It belonged to someone I'd met on-line ....and I walked straight across the road and deposited it in the safe of an estate agent.
