Hi!

Try to use the Yahoo/ Google toolbar. It generally stops most ad pop ups.
if that doesn't help: Ad Aware 6 will solve the problem.

Good luck!

Do a google search for spy bot search and destroy. Also google for AVG, between these two programs they find about 90% of the viruses that are currently online, and get rid of them! I do not use Norton AntiVirus, It makes my system run very slow, and It catches very few viruses. I also have had bad luck with adaware, actually installing spy ware on my computer! Before you run these two programs make sure you update them! Turn off Norton and adaware! Before running the new software. Good luck!

Your PC is infected with a browser hijacker. Use the second or third scan below to remove it.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

AVG Removes I-Worm/Stration · BackDoor.Generic3.GBB and .GBC · Worm/Generic.FX · Exploit.WMF

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

You have had a type of browser hijack it's common and not serious a anti virus won't remove it. A AV is not enough any more a few have said spybot and that may work but I suggest A squared it does more than spybot or adaware it will remove and hijackers trojans and worms as well. It's free

AVG Anti-Spyware Free is also very good and free

Okay that is not a fun problem... Most likely it is (adware) and attached to your registry, so each time it is coming from within your computer. have you scanned your system with Norton or Microsoft Defender I would be surprised if it does not identify it.If you have a full function Norton or Defender you should be able to remove it.

History, cookies etc will not help it is way deeper than that. Warning do not attempt to make manual changes to your registry.

Here is a link to Ms Defender.

goto start, run, and type regedit. then do a find for the eprotecpage and delete anything that pops up with that name. Make sure that its that file and not something that is simiar in name.
