I've left my guppies (2 of them in 5 gallon tank) over 3 days with no problem. First, I do a water change (30% of tank volume) the day before I go. I run a charcoal and fiber filter, so I change both the filter fluffy and the charcoal (to keep water as clean as possible while I'm away). Then I add some water conditioner or anti-stress stuff (it calls for 1 drop per gallon on the bottle I have) and I feed them really well the day before. Then, on the day I leave, I put in some freeze-dried shrimp food (this is fish food, from the fish store) - the freeze-dried shrimp don't decay the way flakes do. I don't put in a whole lot - maybe 15 little frozen shrimp. I make sure the heater is working okay on thermostat, and I leave them 3 days, no problem. They are hungry when I get back, but okay. Also, I have Java Moss growing in my acquarium. Once, when I was away, my female guppy had her babies in the java moss, and I found itsy baby guppys swimming in the moss when I got home. Please note - adult guppy fish will eat their baby fish !!!! Hope this is reassuring . . .

Of course its ok to leave your fish for the weekend & not feed them. But this is also depending on what sort of fish they are. Gold fish only need to be feed a few times a week if feed more then that they can get fat & die. You can buy special slow realese feed from a pet shop if this will make you feel more comfortable.

Yes. A weekend is OK. If it's a tropical tank you can also slow down your fish's metabolism by lowering the temperature a few degrees (to the lower end of its preferred temperature range).

You can buy fish feeder chips that will dissolve slowly over time to feed a fish while you are away. I think they can go for up to 7 days. Look for them at a pet store.

it depends on what fish it is.i used to have 2 tanks and had someone come over and feed my fish, but she didn't know about 2nd tank.so that fish didn't get feed for a week.i thought it was going to be dead but he was still alive.so i'm sure it will be ok just feed it as soon as you get back

fish can go about a week without eating. More importantly, the water needs to stay oxygenated. which a filter will do that, so your set, dude.

I've left fish for a month at a time, they do fine. If you're worried about them get those time release cakes (Petsmart, even Wal-Mart has them) and read the ratio needed. But be prepared for a cloudy tank from them.

Yes, probably. It's good for them to fast, but if you're scared ,get someone to take care of them for you, feed them a lot before the weekend OR put in one of those gigantic food tablets meant for vacations. They don't really work, but just try.

yes it will be fine. if you want they should sell weekend feeders at any pet store, they are small blocks you drop in the tank that release small amounts of food.
