I watch it often and I notice that they families are very "stiff" acting and don't act natural, plus the boyfriend or girlfriend are SO mean and rude to the parents, each and everyone!

Plus I think I recognized one guy from the show Next...and he was gay in Next but now dating a girl in parental control? What do you guys think? I don't know if its real or not....

It's both. My cousin was on there and went through the parental interview process and was on TV for about 3 minutes, but the boys the parents chose were horrible. He didn't get picked, but I did see him on TV. I think the show producers pick the dates depending on who is going to act /look good.
I also think it's fake when the boy/girlfriends mouth off to the parent--- what adult is going to take that trash talk from a kid??

I was kinda surprised to learn that it is 100% FAKE! I knew that a lot of it was "scripted" because of the cheesy insults they are always throwing at each other. Wikipedia explains: Parental Control is a reality-spoof. All of the "contestants and family" that are on the show are actors. MTV has been known to cast actors for this show on the popular form 'Craigslist'. That surprises me and kinda disappoints me! It spoils it for me now. I don't think I'll watch it anymore knowing this. I wonder how many other shows are "reality-spoofs"??? I'll bet that "Date my Mom" is reality-spoof too! That sucks!

Ya I watched it a couple times it seems so fake. They are always mean to the parents and it seems like it follows a script. It's pretty predictable. And the parents just watch happilly as their daghter makes out with a random boy that they picked.

Mtv sucks in this aspect, because all those shows are obviously fake.
Real world and the challenges and such seem real but I've heard in interviews that they are told what to say or to do things a second time etc etc.

ya they are real people I've known people on it but they are told what to say and who to pick at the end of the show. I guess after the taping they can make their real choice.

it's fake, those arent real people, theyre puppets made from leather, electrical tape, and breast milk. If you look closely you can see the strings used to make them move
