The US government is fighting a losing war against marijuana. At the medical research level marijuana has and is still being scrutinized for possible medicines. Such as in the use of a synthesized THC compound used to treat the side effects of chemotherapy or to slow the advance of Glaucoma. However, most research is conducted out of the country by US companies. I think the imminent legalization of marijuana will allow for expanded research opportunities in the near future. We have already seen many states take the issue of medical marijuana into their own hands and disregard the Federal law in the process. It's only a matter of time, before our leadership reflects our generation and change is possible.

Obviusly cause they are illegal but personlly I think the US should be more objective here.

I mean, lot of illegal drugs (without perscription around).

Pharma industry? Give me a break. Extracts from this new plant profit them as much as any other.

Not I don't like the idea of tom dick and jane using it as placebo cure all.

if they don't block marijuana research or use, the next thing you know, they will legalize something as harmful to society as alcohol or cigarettes. Oh, wait a minute..... they are legal. Never mind.

There is absolutely no cnclusive data from credited scientist to proven the pot does any good to cure disease. yes it has been proven to slow effects or even ease pain but to cure- none. It has many draw backs that stop pharmacies and scientists from reccommending it as a solution for its benefits. for one smoking a joint is worse than smoking a cigarette. you draw the conlclusions from that.
