If I were you, because I've had 2 previous pregnancy's and am on my third right now and am 35 weeks... would go to the hospital and have it checked out. I had back labour with both my daughters, it's severe back pain, and no heating pad eases it. If it's nothing, then it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm VERY serious about this. I didn't know I was in labour with the first, because of the back pain, I thought that it was normal end of the pregnancy pains, and 16 hours later my daughter was born. Good Luck.

First of all let me say that having a child is one of the most spiritual things that could ever take place amongst our species i beleive at least. But before my wife had our son Corbin she, as well as mostly every woman, experience tremendous back pain. What i did for her was buy her a nice heating blanket and lie her down on the couch with the heating blanket placed at the small of her back. Then after about 20 minutes or so she would roll on her side and i would massage her back for her. Then after about a 10-15 minute massage she would go back on the heating blanket. It seemed to help her out alot. If no on is there to rub your back or feet. I would recommend laying on the couch with your feel elevated (aligns your back straight) and place a simple dry or moist heating blanket where it hurts. That is the best advice i could give. Best of luck sweet heart and your in for a life changing experience. I wish the best for you and you will be in my prayers....

Many woman have "back labor" which is contractions that pull stronger on the back muscles then those in the abdomen. At 37 weeks call your doctor and if it last more than 24 hours insist on seeing someone. That type of physical stress is not good for your body this late in the game. The saying "if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" really applies when that someone is inside you.

It could be the way the baby pressing on you as he/she drops lower and lower to prepare for birth.
It could also be an early labor symptom. Take some Tylenol (or store brand) and lay down and relax.
Ask your husband/partner or a friend to put two tennis balls into a sock and rub your lower back with them. The counter pressure will feel really good and help relax your muscles.
Enjoy your remaining time being pregnant! :)

Some women have back labor and it feels like sharp pains that keep getting worse. It's not like typical labor where you get a break in between, it's a constant thing. If this is what you're having go to the hospital, you could very well be dilating and in labor. Good luck!
