I always heard it von-a-get with the short a. The u is a scwha, so it barely has a sound.

Von-a-got is what I'm familiar with, unless someone is trying to be a nit-picky prick with you and stresses the syllables.

By my experience with "Harrison Bergernon", it's pronounced
Von uh goot
Same vowel sounds as "want a boot"

I've always pronunced it "Vhan-ah-ghut", but Mongo only pawn... in game of life.
