I absolutely HATED Cool World! The only other one I can think of I hated almost as much was Losing It.
Not all zombie movies are alike. Shaun of the Dead was a laugh riot. A comedy, zombie love story. Very tongue-in-cheek. I reccommend it.

This is the world's most famously bad film:
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959)
Directed by
Edward D. Wood Jr.
Writing credits
Edward D. Wood Jr.
Unspeakable Horrors From Outer Space Paralyze The Living And Resurrect The Dead!
Aliens resurrect dead humans as zombies and vampires to stop human kind from creating the Solaranite (a sort of sun-driven bomb).
But the worst movie that I wanted to like (sort of like your cool world experience) was Popeye.
It starred Robin Williams and Shelly Duvall, it was written by Jules Pfiffer, directed by Robert Altman with music by Harry Nillsson. All of whom are favorites of mine. Yet somehow, they all came together to produce a big piece of yuck! How did so many good people make something so bad?

Wow, hated Cool World, huh? OK, so the premise was a little weak, but it at least had style (for a 90's movie anyway).
On the other hand, I just watched Borat. Wow. Dumb just doesn't describe it. I mean, a retarded monkey on crack could come up with better jokes! OK, there were a few good moments, but they were few and far between (like Sacha Cohen's brain cells, I guess).

The Crying Game
I fell asleep in the theater a full REM sleep with deep snoring and leg spasms the full nine yards. They woke me up the first time and after five minutes I fell right back asleep...what a BOMB!
I know people LOVED this movie buy MY GOD do they make them any more cheesy, boring and 'pseudo' shocking. The gender bender guy was full blown boring to say the least and the love story that was supposed to shock us... put me to sleep.
ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

I don't know about worst, but I have seen some pointless films unfortunately. I agree that Drop Dead Fred, and Showgirls are pretty bad I think for me it's Mullholand Drive.
