and really scared me. My fluid was low due to a leak. Is this serious? How do I find the leak without it costing me so much? Can I go on an 8 hour trip if I keep filling the fluid....it will be very hard to get my car into a service shop this close to a holiday. Thanks!

Some man told me it was steam...but it really looked like it was smoking. It stopped after about 3 or 4 minutes and the fluid container was empty. (it must be a leak cause it was just filled about a week ago).

Im not sure how newer cars go, but check your radiator hose (the radiator is the big square thing on the front of your car between the head lights, you cant miss it), if the car is running for a while and you hear a hissing, wiggle the radiator hose and if the hissing stops, you may have a cut in the hose, its usualy 15$ to repair yourself, 100$ to have a mechanic do it

Did you just have your oil changed? Did any oil spill on the engine? Did you drip any oil on the engine? Is the smoke coming from the tailpipe? White smoke? Black smoke? As long as your engine is not gushing oil and you check your oil every few hours then you should be fine on a trip. Did you overfill your oil as in putting too much oil in the truck? That would cause it to smoke as well.

Leaking fluids can be serious. A slow leak can suddenly be a fast leak. Get it fixed for peace of mind.
