It use to get hot so we wired it to keep the fan running when it is on...but I think that is what I causing the problems!
Does this make sense and can anyone help me figure out what's wrong?
I am a mother of three that needs a good working car...and I do not want to get overcharged for something that does not fix the problem!
Thanks for any help!

Thermostat may need to be changed. Not letting the coolant into the engine. For your car this part costs less than $10 and about twenty minutes of work.

Fan running is OK as it cools the engne the more it runs. The radiator must be clogged so the water does not circulate or the thermostat is sticking closed and allowing water in the engine to boil without returning to the radiator to cool.
Have the thermostat checked by a family member of friend that knows how and a new one is only a few dollars. If the radiator is clogged, fixing is a couple hundred as it needs to be taken off, taken apart, and cleaned. If someone takes it off and on for you and you only go to radiator shop for cleaning it should be aout 75 to 100 dollars at most.
Hope this helps you out. Just find a friend that knows so you can save as much as possible.

Hey there theres 3 things that could go wrong as to why your car is running hot you need a new themostat or your rad needs to be flushed out or replaced or you have a water pump going on it for starters i'd replace youe thermostat thats the cheapest one to go with and get a rad flush done and then see if your car still is running hot and get your fan wired back up properly try those things out and it should fix your problem hope this helps you out a little

My first hand experience led me to fix this by drilling 2 holes in the thermostat(at the top radiator hose connection on the 2.8L V-6 engine) to allow water to flow at All times to the radiator and mainly stop the formation of an air pocket (that always formed in the engine from cold to hot-which always led to overheating) to remedy the problem. The thermostat must have two 1/8th inch holes drilled into it's perimeter so as not to disturb it's function but allow water to pass.
