Don't give up! Write letters, and send emails. Calling cards for a weekly phone call. This will help until you make more friends in college. It will get easier when you have more friends and won't be as lonely.

That's a pretty common feeling when you're first away at college.

Keep in touch with your friends by email, and look for activities at college you can get involved with. Try to find some new people there to hang out with - if you're in a dorm, there are definitely other people there feeling the same way as you are.

You'll be OK after awhile.

Good luck.

Look for new friends. Go to a study group, volunteer in your new town, get a part-time job where you can socialize with people, take an art or music class for fun. Then write letters home telling them about all the cool stuff you're into now.

First of all, congrats on going to college. secondly, it is very common to get homesick, especially if you were very close to your family & friends. I was the same way when I went off to college, but one thing I would suggest is having some pictures in your dorm/apt of your friends and family, go home on breaks and holidays, and don't u dare consider transferring colleges to be closer to home (i've seen many do that). You are going to be fine.

Try writing letters, calling on the phone, or keeping a journal. And you can always visit. Also try to stay busy.

Keep your mind on your studies. You will have plenty of time to be homesick during winter and spring breaks.
