From the UK to America for a holiday and is it true you would need a visa?

Yes, but you need to get a visa from the US Embassy before you go. If it's not for anything hugely serious, you should be fine.

My ex had a record for shoplifting and other silly stuff from when he was young, and he had no probs getting a visa.

To come to America for a holiday(for americans that means vacation) you need a passport.(visa to work)As far as the criminal record it depends on the offence. If you have a passport contact the embassy they should give you the answer you want.

Yes will need a visa. If the criminal record is seroious It could stop your trip.

There are alot of criminals travelling in the United States. Entry into the USA is on a passport and/or visa basis. If you are a terrorist the police can and will arrest you.

Yes and a special type of visa as well, depending what the record is, some things they wont have and you would get sent staight back
