Did he simply forget to raise the price after he dropped it in time for elections?

Smartass is correct - oil prices are definitely rising like the $2.50 drop yesterday, which is roughly 4% in one day.

Congratulations Steve, you were not able to pick up on the sarcasm in my question.

Truth Seeker, you are correct about the DJIA, although I personally think its overvalued. Generally Wall Street likes a deadlocked government because it means less radical changes. Therefore, the election of Democrats should not have caused it to plummet at all.

If pols could control gas prices, it would always be cheap.
If oil cos could control prices it would always be expensive.
What can we conclude from this?

well, the price of gas probably won't go up very much until after the Christmas spending spree. the economy depends on how much the consumer spends and if the consumers feels insecure because of exorbitant gas prices they won't feel confident to max out their credit cards for Christmas. after the holidays gas prices will probably shoot up fast along with the price of everything else, including interest rates and silly Regular Joe who was duped into a false sense of financial security will once again and some more be struggling to pay his bills.

First tell me why oil prices are dropping but the price of gas has gone up since the election.

Gas is rising and your articles show oil prices going down. They are two different things and you should learn to tell the difference.

---------------------

I never said that oil prices were going up, i actually said that they were going down. But you asked about gas prices and they have not stopped climbing since the election.

Their speeches about the low gas prices did not garner enough support. So now that elections are over, they are willing to allow it to rise back up.

They gearing up for 2008. I'm less concerned about the price of fuel than the disappearing jobs.

Ummmm....he isn't in charge of that.

You might try blaming market speculators, OPEC, or any number of other people, but neither the President nor the government in general can set prices on any product.

there are other sites that talk about gas prices going up.

what about all the Republicans that talked about the DOW plummeting as soon as the Democrats were elected? another record high today ... this even after Democrats elected.
