A large portion of our country (the US) buys from Wal-mart which is the #1 trader with China. The Chineese government is responsible for the death of over 1.2 million Tibetans. Also their government is reasponsible for genocide of their own people. They still continue to destroy Tibetan culture. Why do we support them? How do we make their present human rights violations known to the American public? Why doesn't our so called "christian nation" do anything about it?

Can you say money?

They send us cheap goods mande cheaply and they buy tons of our treasuries to finance our ever growing debt. In return, we fuss and posture about freedom and slave wages/workers, then we keep the status quo. The death nell was when we granted them most favored nation trade status--

Besides, the US is no angel-- we've been complicit in the killing of 600k Iraqis...

Best way to bring down a commie regime is throw capitalism at them. Look at the USSR....

They are actually too big to do any thing about their human rights records. They could care less what we think. A larg eportion of the Chinese people suppor ttheir government.
The best approach will take tiem and is now working. Decromocracy is slowly taking holt in China/ Even the hardline Chine have gottenb a taste of free commerce and love it. But we are not goionmg to force the world to become what took the United States 230 years to reach, not to mention a revoluntary war, a civil war, several small expansion warsa( ex, spainish/american war, mexican war, indian wars) and two world wars in which the entire world nearly came under dictatorships.
We have ot be realist at how we became the country we are (land expansion, territory grabs, killing off thousands of indians, don't be so naive as to beleive the Chines are alone in genicide, check out american history as wel as british, russian, islamic).

We are not a christian government. This country was formed partly to excape the terrors of christianity not be ruled under christianity. Our Constitution forbids religion in our government for one reason opnly and that is to make sure we do not force any religion on anyone as islamic countries are today doing.
At the time being our present attitude towards china is the right one and they are responding well.\
Tibet has little to offer other than some old guy who wants to lead Tibet walking around in a robe making waves about things he knows nothing of. The guy i sliving in yesterday and i fthe chinese government brings jobs , new housing, and cars, health, clkothes ect toYTibet you could not run them off. Tibet will eventually become a vacation paradise for foreigners and Chinese . YThey are no more gooing to give up Tibet than America will Alaska or Florida.

Because if we stop supporting them, then we get no more cheap products at Wal-Mart. Considering that between 60% -70% of ALL manufactured good in the country are made in China, that would mean our economy would collapse.

Generally speaking, politicians that are in charge when the economy collapses don't get re-elected. So the politicians won't do anything so they can keep their jobs.

The only solution is to educate the population, boycott all Chinese products, and allow the free market to fix the situation.

Remember not long ago Korea tested a nuclear bomb. Everyone was all stirred up. China was doing nuclear testing many decades ago and America was telling them what to do. So, China blew one up and in a round about way said; "Do something about it"! America backed off. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, America fought back, one of Japan's Admirals stated; "We have awaken a sleeping giant", something like that. China may be one hell of a sleeping giant to be waking up. Also, American Business has a lot of money invested there. Where you think these companies go for workers when they lay off the people here in America. Hope this helps.

1. Money. They will soon surpass the US as the world economic superpower. Until the US begins exporting goods again, we will continue to grow their economy.

2. Military Strength. The US claims only about 1 million active members, China has 2.8 million. It would be a LONG fight. Even if it is not as technologically advanced as ours, sheer numbers will aid greatly.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but these are the two most obvious to me.

US corporations have no interest in pushing the human rights issue, so the US government won't bother. The corporate stranglehold on our nation is very obvious in this case. It's amazing how all these so-called commie-haters trip over each other to grab as much dough as they can from the slave-labor of the Chinese regime. Hey Republicans - where the **** are you on this issue? I hear crickets chirping.

After what we have done ( and not done ) in Vietnam and Iraq? What would you like us to do? Stop shopping at Walmart? You should be asking this question with the UN. The USA is not the world police. And who said we are a Christian nation and what does that have to do with solving problems in China?
