I need/want to buy a laptop and I'm on a strict budget. I have heard from some people that Macs are great and run a lot better than PCs. I also found one that is pretty cheap. I'm used to using PC desktop computers, so I'm a little bit nervous about switching to a Mac. Would I have to buy all sorts of extra things for it? Anyone who uses one-do you like it? How does the Internet run? I need some opinions and recommendations.

I'm a hard-core Mac user. Though I also have 2 PC's in the house. All are networked together.

Macintosh is more stable. I bought a G4 laptop off ebay 6 months ago and it has never crashed. Which is impressive since I do very memory intensive work. Lots of Animation, graphic and web design on it. My Sony Vaio Desktop... (with duel Proc.) crashes when I try to do these things... occasionally.

With Macintosh, you don't have to worry about viruses. It is a Unix Based computer, meaning every application needs to have your personal permission to run. If you don't give the virus permission to run on your computer... it can't do any harm. Very simple.

Also, Mac does away with all those extra control panel settings. There's one simple control panel, and you can adjust everything from there, it's all very user friendly as opposed to windows which sometimes takes a computer tech to figure out how to install something.

Don't be afraid to switch to mac. It's safer, easier, more stable. It takes some getting used to (I was in the same boat as you before I switched) though I'm glad I did. My wife doesn't like my Mac cause "it's too different"

I'd suggest going to a mac retailer, check it out before you spend $$$. They can be more expensive then the typical PC also... but you get what you pay for.

You don't say new or used, but if you are buying a used Mac, make sure it will have OS 10.4 on it for the latest version.

I have had both Macs and PCs for years. There is no comparison really. Macs are like a Mercedes and PCs are like a Yugo. Not only is the Mac totally integrated with it's operating system (that is because Apply makes both) but the Mac OS is way ahead of the Windows OS.

You will love the ease at which you can learn to use the Mac. Of course using e-mail and the internet are the same as on PCs, but everything else will blow the Windows computer away. iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie are so neat and fun that you will never run out of things to play with.

Get the Mac and change your life.

Hello. I have been using a MAC for the last year. Im glad I switched over from windows that does nothing but freeze and have a million errors. MAC's OS is %100 more stable than windows, you will never get a crash or freeze up, no viruses and no errors. Learning a MAC is a little harder than a windows computer, but once you get the hang of it you will never go back to a pc.

Whatever software you like to use, like say Microsoft Office for example, you should buy for your Mac. But everything else, you should be all set with the applications that come with the Mac.

The way you navigate through the system to get your files, it's the same principle but looks totally different. You want to get familiar with "System Preferences" which is under the apple icon in the top left corner. System Preferences is a lot like your Control Panel on a PC. Also, you want to nose around the Utilities folder, there are a lot of handy items in there. ;)

mac os is a much more stable operating system. also, people make a lot less viruses for mac, so security is better. i prefer the mac os, but windows operated machines have more upgrade options. macs are generally more expensive, too. as far as hardware is concerned, check with the manufacturer to see if , say, your printer will work with mac os x. most newer things do. the internet will run as good as your connection. as far as a mac is concerned, get a g4 or newer. new intel core duo macs can run windows or mac os x. but, they are still a bit pricey. for budget, i still recommend x86 (windows compatible) machines. a good mac laptop will run you about a grand, where a comparable x86-based machine will be about $600-700.

Is every single one of the 3,000,000+ iphone 4 users gay because they are Sleek, elegant and beautiful devices? *sarcasm This is a pretty ridiculous question. This is like asking is wearing shoes imply your gay? Owning a mac has nothing to do with your sexual orientation, but can relate much more with your intelligence.
