I've got a dull ache in my lower abdomen, well, it feels like a tight cramp and I'm in alot of discomfort. I do have the urge to pee, but when I do, very little comes out. I'm not ovulating, and I ended my period about 5 days ago. No health insurance, what's the best over the counter option? (if it IS a bladder infection)

Hi, Jo here, I'm a nurse...and a woman...and by the sounds of things You do have a UTI {urinary tract infection). The sooner you treat it the better or it can travel up to your kidneys requiring antibiotics and few days in bed. Go to the Chemist and buy a urinary alkalaniser-explain your symptoms to the chemist. In Australia its about $8 for a pack of 20. They work quickly, theu're great as long as it hasn't been too long since your symptoms started.See your doc if your not better tonight!let me know how YOu go!

If you have an infection then you need antibiotics to resolve that,
There is also a disease called insterstitial cystitis.
People might tell you to drink cranberry juice. That is ok, but it will not heal the infection.

I know how tough it is to not have health insurance. Some states or counties have health care for low income people. check in to that. Also, you can go to an emergency room at like a county hospital that will see people who can't pay for medical care.
If you make an incime you are going to HAVE to get medical care or you will just get sicker and sicker. The bladder infection could move up in to your kidneys then you will jsut get sicker.

Infections need antiboitics

There is no over the counter cure that I know of but I'm not really up on alternative meds. You should get treatment though as bladder infections that are untreated can lead to kidney infections and people have died of these. This lady I know thought she had the flu but it was her kidneys and she died and she wasn't 50 yet. I do know that increasing fluids will help and crannberry juice is good too but you really ought to see the doctor. Also if you ask the pharmacist there is a med that turns your urine colors but will relieve the painful bladder spasms. Talk to the Pharmacist and see if they know of some alternative to antibiotics but I'll bet they don't. You should go to doctor. If you go through the ER they won't turn you away.

A ache in your abdomen indicates a possible kidney infection. You need to see a doctor. KIdney infections can lead to permanent kidney damage and eventually kidney failure. There are no OTC remedies for UTI (bladder infection) or kidney infection. Is there anyone that can help you?

It looks like you have a bladder infection. There is only one medication - antibiotic, which only a doctor can prescribe. There is no over the counter option for this.

If its an infection it will need antibiotics which a doctor will need to precsribe. If its burns when you try to pee then it could be cystitis, there are over the counter remedies available for that...;

Here in tenessee where the average wage is $6.00 an hour. Most Folks go to a Feed store like Tractor Supply, and buy Tetracycline that you give farm animals. Mix it in a quart jar and drink 4 oz. a day. Kills everything.

If it is a bladder innfection, you will need to have antibiotics. I don't think you can get those without a prescription. Why not go to a free clinic?
