Are these political talk shows, or are they truly a valuabe source for news? If a person get there news from one of these shows (any one) does that make he/she an informed American?

None of the shows you listed are actual news sources. A real news source has objective reporting (which isn't all that easy to find, but it does exist.)

Those shows are more like celebrity rave shows that only talk about people and places and things and pander to the ever-shortening attention span (and perhaps intelligence?) of the average American.

In my opinion, the differences between celebrity, pundit and politician have been blurred with none of the above people making any positive political discourse, but instead making fun of or denouncing their peers for their own gain (more popularity), and the average American's political goals aren't much better.

The most informative, and generally non-partisan, news that I receive is from The Economist. It's a British magazine, but it might as well be American. It covers all facets of politics, the economy, current events, science, finance, books, etc. It's published weekly and is, again, the best source I've found for intelligent, well-written news.

I don't consider a house burning or a car crash news. I try to watch all the Sunday morning news shows. Meet the Press, Face the Nation, etc. If a person depends on only one show, no, they are not truly informed. Most programs slant the "news" one way or another. For a person to be informed a variety of sources should be checked. Including the internet.

Stewart and Colbert...watching them slam the politicians, now that's news.

The Daily Show. Its the only channel that can cover a story and REALLY tell you what the whole event is all about, since there bias is open and honest.

When I hear a story on the news, I have to hear it on the Daily Show that night or the next day to really get the "story". They always deliver.

each information outlet is biased in some way. this is the accountability of the listener to ask the severe questions and evaluate the shops then choose for. in case you think each element any of them say properly-you're a fool. do no longer in certainty repeat what you pay interest somebody else say. consistently evaluate the source. How do you recognize Fox lies yet no longer CNN or NBC? I particularly have heard distortions from all of them. in basic terms for this reason of certainty you do not have faith what an outlet is holding does no longer make it a lie. verify you recognize the version between confusing information and opinion as properly.

None of those are news. But ironically, The Daily Show with Jon Stuart is.

Thats because the ones you listed are either pure entertainment (Jay Leno) or biased reporting and propaganda. Jon Stuart makes jokes, but only after presenting what really happened.

Gee too bad Glen Beck did not make your list. His show about Iraq television was the most enlightening show on in some time. Your "Big Three" networks are just full of liberal propaganda!

These are not even political talk shows, they are just shows that like to attack people without the person being attacked to have rebuttal. Watch BBC world.
