Something not too complicated. For an 8-year-old. Trying to teach her some responsibility for her appointments and Girl Scouts and events. So I can list reminders for her for birthdays, phone numbers for friends.

PDAs in general has learning curve.. due to the fact its totally different from what you would find in a normal computer OS.. Palm uses something that looks like Apple.. while the others uses Windows Mobile..

Palm is more straight to the point.. no hassling thru that much menus.. you get the home screen which has everything.. and then tapping the home button will cycle the the different categories..

Windows Mobile is almost like a carbon copy of Windows XP/ME/etc.. it uses the start menu, programs and the system/control panel... this would be an easier transition if you have a windows OS at home..

all in all.. i prefer windows mobile.. i feel more comfortable around it.. but for a 8-year old.. the Palm Z22 is cheap and easy to use.. compared to the 200+ you would pay for a windows based pda.

I agree that your daughter is to young to be that scheduled in her life. It is important for her to have fun and not be worried about being leashed to some piece of electronic equipment. I didn't even have a TV when I was 8 (and that was in the 80's).

I would just get her a little message book that she can put this into, but a PDA just seems to send the wrong message... it is telling her she has to be a grownup.

Do the message book together, or on a calender she can have in her room. Just seems like a better investment.

Hi,
I shop a lot and to save time and money I use cheapest prices search engine. Almost every merchant is there and over a million consumer written reviews. You will find many other ways that will help you with questions.
You can shop online or you can go to a merchant and use the toll free phone number if you feel more comfortable shopping like that.
There are merchant reviews, product reviews, compare by brand and a lot more. I hope I helped you and I wish you good luck.

I think you are expecting too much from an 8 year old. A PDA will have absolutely no value for her. She's too young.
