No! Democracy is not compatible with royalty, a position held by accident of birth rather than popular mandate. I'd like a Head of State that we can vote in - and vote out - and with a monarchy you never get the chance to do either. I also resent being classified as a 'subject' rather than a 'citizen'.
The USA, without royalty, is closer to being democratic than the UK, but the crazy electoral college system can distort the result, as in 2000, when Gore defeated Bush by at least half a million votes. Why doesn't the USA simply add up all the votes across the country, as, for example, the French do?

Well, I don't neccessarily believe they are better than us. But you are mistaken, you can have a royal family and democracy. You can't however have a republic and a royal family. Greece gave birth to democracy but they had a royal family up until recently and they are a republic. The US is not a pure democracy, we are a democratic republic.
And as far as the concept of royalty, sure I'm down. It's the oldest form of government.

No, of course they are not better. I believe in democracy, which therefore means I believe the people should elect the head of state democratically.
The actual people within the royal family can't help the position they're in. It must be very difficult in some respects living such abnormal lives, even if it is one of luxury at everyone else's expense.
One day this country will become a true democracy. You might want to consider signing the petition on the Republic website.

first of all i position self assurance in Royalty because it exists that's a actuality. in case you've faith the foundations of a present day Constitutional Monarchy then its is because you want an apolitical Head of State with the steadiness, historic previous and traditions that can provide coloration to our custom. they are born right into a position sure, yet is it a position maximum persons would honestly want to be born into. i understand i does not want the media interest or the load of responsibility. you may have self assurance contained in the universal concept of monarchy even as nonetheless being waiting to position self assurance in equality. Secondly, racism is the position someone is discriminated hostile to because of their ethnic history not because someone is born "better" than you. contained in the previous Monarchy/Aristocracy replaced into an illustration of inequality although that is now not the case and nobility do not wield the effect or power they once had. right now there is oftentimes a sparkling age aristocracy even in Republics. contained in the country the Bush's and Kennedie's are excellent examples of noblemen without titles.

No one is ever better than anyone else.
That is not what royalty is about. Royalty is about the Divine Right to rule. That is, God gave one family (not better than anyone else, just a family) the ability to rule and keep laws and order in the land. It has nothing to do with who is better.
And no, I don't think royalty is up-to-date. It should be done away with, the only Kings and Queens left should be in a pack of cards. England uses theirs mostly for tourists.

No. I never do. Such concept makes people feel way better than others. I actually meet customers who are proud of their royal families and they are snob enough not to pay the whole invoice.
I was going to ask whether their so called royals charge too much tax but then again I didn't bother.
The royals don't even know them anyway...they are too busy in wonderland.

No, I do not believe in the concept of royalty, but the royals are there for tradition. It is true that they are not needed, but if they want to stay for the timebeing, then sure, they can stay. I have no problem with them, and I DO NOT believe that they are better than me. Someday they will probably be gone but not in our lifetime probably.

I think that most royal lines are started by power hungry tyrants who get the position through force. I also don't think America is in as bad shape as you make it out to be.
