The other answers were valid and good advice. I would add that you should critically look at the short paper and see if you could outline it. If your points follow smoothly you should easily be able to create an outline from what you've written. If you can't, maybe some re-organization is in order. As a last thought for you, the adage "tell them what you're going to tell them, then tell them, and then tell them what you told them" will make sure you have a beginning, a middle with your information, and a summary (beginning and summary can just be a short sentence). Since your essay is short, I've included a link to a short article speaking about seven steps to writing a good essay. Good luck. Hope you get an Excellent written in red across the top!

Use a word processor.

The single best editing tool is a word processor. If you use MS Word then you can set it to point out your spelling AND grammar mistakes. This makes it much easier to produce a top flight paper.

If you have problems spelling words, I have some dyslexia, then you can program your common mistakes into the program to auto-correct them as you type. Which makes writing the paper a lot easier.

The next best method is to give your paper to someone else so they can read it and make any editing or correction marks on your paper.

The single best research method for a paper is the Internet. It takes what used to require hours of research down to 20 minutes or less. Cut and Pasting from the Internet isn't enough though you need to add your opinion and your own analysis. The best way to do this is to paste the quotes into your page and then write what you want to say. This lets you look at it for your information and not make the mistake copying it word for word.

If you are doing a research paper then you want to include the original text as well as a note on its source.

Editing a paper as short as 139 words should be simple, we are talking about only 2 pages of text, depending on what size font you use. I have typed far longer passages just to complete an answer on this board.

Hi,
Here has some tips for editing:
1. Read over other things you have written, to see if you can identify a pattern in your writing, such as problematic punctuation, or repeated use of the same adjectives.
2. Take a break between the writing and editing.
3. Read by sliding a blank page down your lines of writing, so you see one line at a time. Even in editing or proofreading, it is easy to miss things and make mistakes.
4. Read the paper out loud to get a sense of the punctuation, and make any changes to parts that feel unnatural to read.
5. Allow someone else to read over your paper, fresh eyes can see things you will not see.
For proper editing you can take help online.

Since most professors say approx this many words, just try to get it over by less than 100. I would check your premises and see if there is anything you repeat more than once or twice. If that doesnt work, have somebody else read it and give you advice on it.

I'd suggest having someone else look over it. It helps because sometimes you don't catch your own mistakes. You could also run it throughthe spelling and grammer checker on your computer.
