tomorrow I'm going out to buy a first player shoot em up which I hope will change my x-box 360 life. A few days ago I was going to buy COD 3 but then I heard about GOW. I have COD 2 and loved it. My favourite first player shooter was the original Halo ( the sequel was a bit crap). The 2 player coop was great on Halo and while COD 3 does not feature a 2 player coop it does have a lot of online potential. Please only answer if you have played both and give your honest opinion.

i am bit of a gaming geek so you can trust me... If you like violence awesome graphics multi player co-operative campaign with friends and more get gears of war.. its cheap only £37.99 in hmv... AND ITS BLOOMING FANTASTIC!!!. The graphics are the best iv'e ever seen seriously. problem with cod3 is that they original developers of cod 2 didn't make it.. it was the same people who made big red one for the game cube and its rubbish... Please stay away form cod.. you will be a lot more satisfies by GOW i promise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honostly hate GoW, it's online play is CRAP! If your used to halo 2 on xbl and getting a lot of kills it's ******* boring. You maybe get 1-4 kills the max out of a game. And a lot of times you can't even get into a game because of bad servers and hosts. The game is extremelly short and easy to beat even on hardcore and insane mode. It's a different game and interesting to beat, but it was a waste of my $60 I think. I just wish it was longer and the online play was better. The best thing about GoW was the multiplayer campaign. You can have someone from xbl join in on your campaign, etc. I hope they start doing that on more future games.
Now for COD3, it's fun. But it's like an exact repeat of COD2. I rented this game because I didn't want to be let down again. The story seems like it's repeating, the maps seem almost the same. I still haven't found a match online for an entire week. And I also got halfway through the game within 5 hours.
I guess it depends on you and who you are. If your willing to spend $60 and guess which game is right for you. I'm waiting for Rainbow Six: Vegas now :) It comes out on the 20th.

I have both games.
IMHO, both have excellent Campaigns. Gears of War is better only because it has Co-op on campaign and that is awesome. A buddy from work and I have completed GOW on Casual and Hardcore difficulty settings and are trying to beat it on Insane. You cannot do it by yourself. GOW also has better graphics then COD 3.
Having said that, I played and beat COD 3 before GOW. It's just as fun as COD 2. IF you can afford it, I really recommend getting both. If you cannot afford both my advice is to get GOW, and ask for COD 3 for Christmas.
They are both fantastic games.

i bought cod3 on wed very good and bought gow today and my word its fecking amazing the graphics on my hd 50'' is knock out stuff happy days are here Microsoft has brought out another class game like halo 2 buy the both you will love them .... i hope your on-line because its the only way to play games now whats your gamer tag anyway xxx

Gears of conflict is a kick A shooting interest. yet whilst he's into the army video games you may get him to plaly call of accountability. It relies upon on what he likes. yet whilst he's only basically searching for an astounding shooting interest i'd get him Gears of conflict.

If you like chain-sawing people in half buy Gears of War, If you like WW2 games buy COD3. Personally I'm going for GOW.

i have both of them,their really great games but i have to say that GOW is much much better.i have soo much fun in multiplayer with GOW.COD 3 is good but GOW is the choice to get in my opinion.

I love violence in video games, so I would get gears of War. There is this chainsaw that can decapitate your enemies.

ok, just to get this straight, HALO 2 IS NOT CRAPPY!!!!!!. ok done with that, gears of war is good but call of duty 3 owns.
