I've seen it a few times. When I was in undergrad the art school would cast a production of the VMs every year on V-Day. I really enjoyed them. At first I thought it was the thought it was quite perverse. But after getting over the shock, they are actually quite intriguing. Who would have thought that someone would ever give the vagina a voice? A liberating idea.

The VMs biggest strength is that it addresses some exceedingly important issues – the genital mutilation of young girls in certain societies, and rape victims' accounts of their ordeals in Bosnia and Kosovo.

All in all, it was quite shocking, but comical and entertaining at the same time. I would really recommend that every open-minded woman see it at least once.

I saw the play and then I took a class at my university where every student either picked on from the book or wrote their own and performed it. It was one of the most empowering classes I have ever taken. We as women must be proud of our own bodies and take ownership over them Women have been told terrible things about their genitals for years and when you think that the worst insult a man can call a women is a c**t, then you have a example of how sad this situation is. Read the book and feel better about yourself and your sisters.

It was funny, sad, touching, thought-provoking....all rolled into one. Especially loved the part where she tells the story of the woman who found a man who thought her vagina was the most beautiful thing in the world....

I did in San Francisco and I loved it. I laughed a lot and it inspired me as a man. There was not many men too be honest. Rita Moreno was brilliant. You should see it, and read the book please. You should see the play because it is just worth seeing.

Has anyone seen the original version? The version where the older woman gets an underage girl drunk then rapes her? The one where the rape is described as "a good rape"?

"Good rape?" WTF???
