"The lardiest highway bill of all time, including a $223m bridge connecting the Alaskan town of Ketchikan to an island with a population of 50." - Ted Stevens - R

"In the end, though, Mr Bush made the response to Katrina a federal responsibility, and the federal government botched it. The rescue effort was ill co-ordinated. Billions of relief dollars were wasted. The Department of Homeland Security's inspector-general noted, for example, that $900m was splurged on 26,000 mobile homes for evacuees, when regulations forbid the use of such homes on flood plains, so 11,000 of them were left “sinking in the mud” in Arkansas."

"When Congress passed a grotesque package of farm subsidies in 2002 and Mr Bush signed it, many Republicans were convinced that it was the lesser of two evils. If they failed to support uneconomic farms, they figured, they might lose crucial Midwestern votes and hand power back to the Democrats."
Etc.

Not to say that Democrats are any better. It's just that Republicans claim to believe in small government.

Retard, Bush didn't make Katrina a federal issue, he was asked to help...three days later in LA. Rescue efforts were a state responsibly til then. The one federal agency that WAS involved in the rescues was the Coast Guard. They did an OUTSTANDING job.

Next point, idiot, was either the fed increases inflation and decreases the value of the dollar to allow the farmers goods to be exported or have you pay 23% interest on your car and 11% for your home.

With SO many examples of GOP waste you only brought one good one to the table...too bad, you had a good question to start

Haven't you noticed? They absolutely do not believe in a small government. Bush has passed laws extending his power beyond that of any previous president, and invaded the privacy of millions of citizens with warrantless wire-tapping. The Supreme Court said he violated the 4th Amendment and the FISA for that.

What can be said about Bush's failures that hasn't already been said. He sold the conservatives down the drain along with America. I knew we were in trouble when God was talking to him.

You will never find any correlation between what Republicans promise and what they actually do when in power. They will say ANYTHING to get your vote, and then they go to work for the real people they care about -- largely, themselves.

The second answerer is wrong, you are not rational, since hate makes a person lose all rationality, and that is part of your name.
