He is trying to avoid you getting something that is just a difficult to shift as a smack (heroin) habit.

Assuming the idea of that does not really appeal, your doc IS looking after your best interests.

Asking him about other pain relief might be a plan. A paracetamol an asprin and ibuprofen if not allergic to them can be taken together and work well for most folks.

Opiates are not for migraine pain. The thing that worked the best for me was Naproxen, otherwise known as Aleve. Also, avoiding foods with MSG in them helped me.

That's because they are addicting and the really don't do much for migraines.....THAT'S why the doctors aren't supposed to give opiates for that. If your hormones are truly out of whack, then you need to get on HRT and get them straightened out. THAT will cure your migraines.

I have taken Frova and Relpax (sp?) with success. I had no luck with Imatrex. When they get really bad I need to get a shot of Demerol. I know they totally suck! Good Luck
