Decide what you want to see yourself doing the rest of your life. If you like to cook, I wouldn't recommend becoming a vet. What are your likes, talents, interests, hobbies and vocations? Find a career that fits into all those categories. Otherwise, you will just have a job. Big difference be a career and a job.

Keep your interests in mind. If you enjoy physical activity and don't mind hard work, the areas that pay the best are construction, oil hand, and miner (open pit, not closed pit).

If you HATE physical activity, go indoors with your choices. It helps to have a good computer background in any field, but majoring in computers would be a mistake. You need to have something in addition to that.

If you want to be a writer or artist or any of the creative fields, major in something else. You'll need to have a day job.

Oh, forestry might be an up-and-coming field again. To correct global warming, we are going to have to plant millions of trees. Some nations have started. The US has not.

They say to think back what you enjoyed as a kid. Do something that makes you happy and makes you wanna get up in the morning to go to work. Theres also career fairs and counselors to talk to you about different degrees and what you can do with them. Good Luck

I saw almost all answers people posted here stated "Do what you are interested in, or what you enjoy doing." It is indeed true that you have to find something that you enjoy doing it for the rest of your life. However, pick something that you not only enjoy, but that brings you bread and butter at home. Sometimes people go after something they like, they enjoy, but that doesn't mean they are good at it or that kind of work still pays you off. So, in my honest opinion, list your interests and find out which one pays you the best, and go for that one. Good luck!

Pay close attention to what you like to do.

See if anybody gets paid for that. Talk to them about HOW they got to the point that they get paid for it.
