I hate to be vague but maybe. Most carriers once the system identifies the IMEI (the phones serial #) and sees that it is a prepaid phone it will cut it off from the family plan.

If you place the old sim card in it is no longer a pre-paid phone and as long as your on the plan you would be in the family plan.

I switch family and prepaid sim cards around on a regular basis.

As stated above, a Cingular pre-pay phone will work with Cingular Post paid. Question is how long will it work. Rumor has it that Cingular is cracking down on this practice and if a pre pay IMEI registers on a post paid account they will shut it off and classify it fraud. Dont know anyone that has had that happen to them but thats the rumor

As long as that phone is compatible with the existing provider (buy a Cingular prepaid phone for use with a Cingular postpaid plan), then it should work. Ditto for TMO.
