My husband wanted to put it up a month ago, but I convinced him that we'd be sick of it by the time Christmas came around. I always put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. My parents have two assisted living places, and they're both already decorated. Until a few years ago, one of the employees had an upside-down Christmas tree that she kept up all year long, and just decorated it for whatever holiday was coming up. That was a bit much, though.

I think you can put the tree up right after Thanksgiving dinner especially because everybody is together and gets everyone in the holiday spirit. Personally, I like to keep the tree for as long as possible; its a once-a-year decoration that I love to enjoy. I wait until the tree is drying out (I go for fresh not artificial) or someone makes me take it down..... I like to keep the spirit of the holidays going...!

We generally buy a live Christmas a couple weeks before Christmas and than we take it down Jan 2. I would leave it longer if it was me personally but my boyfriend hates to have a Christmas tree up after the holidays are over.

lol...my mother always used to put it up at the last minute (like maybe 4 or 5 days before Christmas) and she would usually procrastinate to take it down until sometime in January (lol one year we still had the Christmas tree up for valentines day). i have always heard that your supposed to put the tree up the day after thanksgiving and take it down the day before (or is it the day after??) new years.

This year, our tree went up the end of Sept. That is because my son-in-law left for Iraq and my daughter decided it would go up the day he left and come down the day (April) he comes home. It is very patriotic and wonderful. As for Christmas past, I always put my tree up very early. Christmas comes and goes so fast that I feel the longer the season , the better. To each his own!!!!!

I put my tree up last week. Our family has been so blessed this year and we are so excited for christmas. My two years are entranced with the lights, ans it puts us all in a wonderful mood. It's also my fiance's first christmas with our family. Who know when we'll take it down. I say put it up and take it down whenever you want!

We've always put our tree up on December 2 because that is my daughter's birthday. We usually take it down New Year's weekend just because it's pretty much dead by then.
You should come up with your own traditions for your tree and have fun with it.
