Where do local book stores get the book list ? Does the college provide the list of classes and books for the class? I'm thinking of a online bookstore for a certain college, so need to know where to start.

Let me clarify my question.

Where do I get the list of all the books being used on the campus for all the classes?

Contact the college. They will certainly assist you once all the legalities have been completed for your business. I would imagine they will either give you the list or direct you to all the teachers at the college. It sounds like a big project. You might want to consider other possibly related books and items (stationary, gifts-mugs, t shirts etc., etc) to be sold to students at that college

Good luck!:)

I think you might be asking a different question.... like how to buy text books on line. If so, this is what you do......
Contact the bookstore on your university campus to find out which books the instructor has requested. Or look on line if the instructor has a syllabus on line with texts listed. Or write the instructor directly. It is very important to get the correct title, author and printing date or version of book. Then go to an on line bookstore - enter the info exactly and you should be able to find the IBSN number -no two books have the same IBSN #.

Then enter the IBSN number into a search engine - and you'll find sources with that particular book.

Cautions: I have done this several times. It is very easy to lose your way - especially when you start looking for lab books - and science books with updated versions. I have ordered the wrong printing, even the wrong book - and you get stuck with it. If you are trying to find a book that has a CD or internet support with it, look for words as: CD unopened or valid password in tact. If the seller doesn't list this - scroll down the list until you see it listed. It is generally a little more $$ but it lets you know it is there.

Once a buyer opens the CD it cannot be returned.... Once a password is used to enter the on line support, it may not be valid for the next user.

Used books sellers are pretty good - you may pay more in shipping than you do for the book, so check that out before buying.

At the end of the term, you may be able to sell the book back at your university bookstore - they don't really care where the books come from as long as the instructor requests it again the next term.

I saved about a third to a half - but I also have a couple of mistakes......

good luck
