Last year at thanksgiving my step dad and my brother got into a fight, my brother is 16. It was horrid, my step dad was full on choking him. My mom who didnt really see what was going on came in and started to smack my brother! wtf.. anyways, my mom and brother left, my steo dad stayed.. again wtf. The rest of the family- I was yelling, "Im going to call the cops" my cousinf who was sitting right there was trying to push my step dad away and help my brother. My aunt, didnt do ****. THAT is what pisses me off, this is her home, and she didnt say or do ****, her nephew was being choked but the asshole they call my step dad and she did not even move. She was like "dont break my table" or something. She said she didnt want to get involved. im really upset about the whole thing, but the fact that she didnt do anything to help makes it worse.... My question is, thanksgiving is coming up, and we are supposed to be going to her house again. Should I say something ot her? Im going to be mopy.

You should talk about it at the dinner table. Try to be nice and phrase it in a way that your aunt and step dad do not get defensive.

It sounds like to me the adults in this situation should've handled it differently, and they allowed abuse to go on in front of them and do nothing. But it's just not your Aunt's fault,so don't solely take it out on her.I hope your mom put your step dad in jail, she should have. And your mom should apologize to your brother and she shouldn't had smacked him. No,,,,, like I said it's just not her fault, just because it happened at her house. Enjoy Thanksgiving and don't mope, you can't change what adults do. But if it happens again DO CALL the cops or report your step dad for abuse.

I definitely think you should talk to your aunt, maybe there is an explaination of her muteness. You need to open the lines of communication and find out why your aunt is still - did your step dad threaten her before? Is her mind elsewhere?

Talk to her and hopefully it can be resolved before Thanksgiving.

If it is too much aggrevation can you skip it? (I know, that's probably not an option)

I wouldn't go over to their house until your someone apologizes.
You have to show that you will not tolerate things like this to happen and by your going over there, you are telling them that you guys can get walked all over.

Could you talk to your mom about it? If you are closer than you and your aunt, maybe it will be easier talking to her. This is a hard one!

Do not go. Fake being sick and stay home.
