okay my question is since my guppy is pregnant(i think) and christmas is coming up so i have no money to buy another tank i was thinking i would just use the breeder net until they get to big then i would seperate them by male and female into a few rubbermaid containers, so heres the question: will a heater in the tank burn the sides or anything since its not glass?

You can use heaters in rubbermaid containers.
The trick is to place a ceramic or glass plate on the bottom & stick the heater to this and it is a common way to make an emergency tank. Don't forget fitration too.
To be honest though it is better to get some floating plants or hornwort & leave the female in the main tank & let the babies take their chances. Breeder nets are not good - females get stressed & fry don't thrive in them.
Any money you spend in a rush would be better kept towards upgrading your main tank.

It is possible the heater could melt through the plastic. You can pick up a 10 gallon glass tank at Wal--Mart for around 8 bucks or a pet store.

A rubbermaid container, yes. They are not made to withstand heat and it will scorch underneath and let out fumes harmful to the fish. I would just get a cheap small glass bowl to put them in (small glass aquarium bowls are only about $5) but I wouldn't put them in rubbermaid!

the heaters we use will burn through even the good tupperware... ask for new bowls for Christmas, or borrow some-ones bowls.
