80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

The meaning of life can be taken how ever you would like to take it. Personally I think the meaning of life is two things love and our lord Jesus Christ. Of course this is because I am a Protestant. If you are looking for the meaning of life it is in you, no one can tell you otherwise.

Life is a conundrum, full of many types of experiences. You can take what you need and leave the rest behind. Life is what you decide it should be -- if what you are doing does not make you happy then don't do it -- find something that makes you happy and fulfilled -- life just is -- experience it, cherish it, live it to the fullest, because it is over all to soon -- be kind to yourself and others -- life returns what we give it -- it is the circle of giving and receiving energy

History being what it is, the strong survive. So are we animal or are we better then animals. This Earth sure would be a great place to test the soul. If you believe in Jesus and have given your love for the pain he suffered for me and you on the cross. You have found the meaning of life... LOVE!

Depending on whether you believe in God or not, the long answer quoting scriptures is pretty accurate.

The purpose and meaning of human existence is to build Godly character and dwell with Jesus Christ in a coming world free of the madness that man has created.
