Metformin is only used to regulate your insulin, especially in those that are either diabetic or have PCOS. It does not help you get pregnant, but when it helps regulate your insulin, it will give you a better chance of getting pregnant.

Yes Metformin is used for conception! I went to the ER the other night and they didnt know it either. I am on Metformin for conception and it did make me ovulate this month, I have to wait 10 days for a pregnancy test. Metformin is used as an insulin thing and for diabetics, but also for ovulation in a woman, to produce eggs and such! So yes I had good luck with it making me ovulate! Best of luck to you!

never heard of it being used for that???? my husband has taken it for years for his diabetes

in fact at drug finder on msn health it has this addendum:
Glyburide and metformin is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to harm an unborn baby. Generally, insulin is the drug of choice for controlling diabetes during pregnancy. Do not take glyburide and metformin without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.
Glyburide and metformin passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing baby. Do not take glyburide and metformin without first talking to your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby.
