Why does it tickles When you run your tongue over the roof of your mouth (your pallet) why does it itch?? It doesn't even itch, its just a weird sensation altogether, i think i could honestly be tortured like that.... why does it tickle? What is that feeling.... what do you think?

There must be a lot of nerves in that part of the mouth. When I read your question I tried it natually, and it made me smile.

do youknow I have always wanted to ask the same question publically. Have you noticed how that tickle tends to be sustained and you have to keep swallowing saliva for atleast 10 seconds to get rid of it. Your right its a good tochure tool. but does it feel the same if somene else does it ( not with the tongue I hope unless its some hot totty).. LOL
I am an experienced biologist and I have never figured out the basis of this "phenomenon" if you can call it that.

You have a lot of blood vessells at the roof of your mouth, making the nerves more sensitive in that area.

I had noticed it before, never thought about it ....until now. Maybe the roof of the mouth is really sensitive?

I think because ther nerves up there are very sensitive. Anywhere that tickles, that means that the nerves there are sensitive. (Like the bottom of your foot).
