I believe that you can run a free trial of Panda Software's virus and spyware checker. There are also packages you can buy (McAffee, Norton, Webroot) that will check for spyware.

I think there are some free sites that let you check your system for spyware or download a software that checks for that, but I am always a little suspicious of a free package. If it is free, how good is it, and how do I know they are not installing their own "spyware" or "viruses".

If you look on the Google or Yahoo for "spyware prevention", you will probably see some info that will help. I included the link to Panda Software just in case you are interested. (I do not work for them...just saw their package in action and it looked pretty good to me)
