Exercise your hand muscles by squeezing a tennis ball, so that you gain more dexterity in your fingering.
Stay away from large-fretted guitars, such as Standard Gibson/Les Paul, down-tune the guitar strings so that there's more flexibility.
Or just give up and take up the accordian.

Get an electronic metronome. Practice the passages SLOWLY along to the metronome. When you can play the passage perfectly at the slow speed, click the tempo on the metronome up a notch. Keep doing this - you'll get faster - I did. Ironically, most of the fastest players practice a lot of SLOW practice, then use this technique.

Arpeggio sweeps or finger tapping...those go over well with the crowd. Even if it's not fast, harmonization goes over really well too. It's technical because two guitarists have to have exact timing to have it sound good.

Try a teacher first who can play fast. Then learn the drills needed to play properly.

Give up metal , and go Prog. You'll enjoy it so much better.
