Kill it with drugs and alcohol, just kidding, some professionals reckon we can all learn to use the sections of brain that are under utilized.
I watched this documentary the other night about sleep deprivation and people who had a strong resistance to the symtoms of sleep deprivation were using parts of their brain that normally lay dormant.
The theory is that these sections of the brain can be used, we just have to figure out how to start them up.

It really is not at all true that we only use part of our brains. Various devices such as MRI, PET, CAT show that a person uses all of the brain, just different sections for different things and at different times. Anyway, it is not how much you use it, it's how well you use it.

funny you should ask. I just read an article last night disprooving that as an urban myth. (it's in the November 6th "The Week" magazine. ) and it makes perfect sense. while in theory, there may be better ways to use the material in our brain... "in theory" ... in practice, we already don't know exactly how it works... and when you look at any medical brain-scan.. the thing is lit up like a Christmas tree...

Well, if you only use a third, that leaves two thirds left, so we'll presume that you're not using it for math. . . .
