I hear it on a Wenatchee radio station all the time.
I always get this song confused with another, and thats why I cant remember the lyrics.

my first guess would have been dave matthews, but you said no in your post. depeche mode has a satellite song. i believe incubus has a few that mention satellites, but unsure as to whether the title of the song is satellite. good luck!

I was trying to search all songs with "satellite" in the title too because the first time I heard that song in my car I was on alert since the song has the very same chime in the background as my car's auto warning sound!
