Do you need teflon tape when therading together breass My water filter for my frig needs to be replaced All the parts male and female are brass do I need tape or pipe dope??

If these are flange or ring fittings no, mine don't. Brass shouldn't have to but, remember don't over tighten and stretch the threads. this is were the problems come in.

Yes.Tape helps seal the threads. Pipe dope for water lines is teflon based as well.Teflon Tape is less expensive and to my estimation better.

You should use teflon tape or pipe dope (same stuff in liquid form) when putting together pieces of pipe. Do not use for compression fittings beacuse it can gum things up.

You should definately use either tape or pipe dope. My rule of thumb is Teflon tape for liquids and dope for gas (natural, LP, etc.). I've been in the maintenance field for 30+ years...

Either one will work - smallest amount you can buy. Pipe dope -
coat threads evenly. Tape - wrap around three times and tear
off excess, if any.
