Green Day has been around for 20 years. Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Mike Dirnt (bass) started in 1986 as Sweet Children at the age of 14. In 1989, Al Sobrante joined the band and they changed their name to Green Day. In 1990 Sobrante left the band for college and current drummer Tré Cool joined the band.
Billie Joe is 34.

Perhaps 14-15 years. The lead singer is either in his 30s or 40s. Not quite sure.

Green Day has been around for a while. The important factor is they had more then one chance to hit it big, and finally decided to do it. Once they did, they lost their fan base in their home town(GDay was thought to be underground punk, and signing to be big was joing sides with the gov't).
So lets just say their started with their debut album with the big record company (Dookie if u didnt remember) I was in sixth or seventh grade. around 14-16 years.

I first started hearing Green Day when I was about 15, so I would say at least 14 years now.

they've been around for 30,000 years.. the leader is a vampire and of course as you know.. some other band members are also.
they change identities and names over time.. as you know.. you can't be around all this time and keep the same identity.

They've been around since the early 90's, but they're still one of the best bands out there.
