Do I need a degree? What type (AA or BA)? Can I just take the certification and not have a degree. Are there different requirments for a charter school?

Thanks!

Is a teaching degree a 2 or 4 year degree?

I believe all states have a minimum Bachelor's Degree as a requirement for Teaching. Some ,like NY ,require a Master's. Check out the Arizona Department of Education's website for specific requirements or just visit any local 4 year college.

Good luck to you! :)

Teaching degree, but a degree is not required to be a substitute teacher and you can work every day for the school system, just different classes or maybe a long assignment.

I would add this. Many states allow emergency certification if you are wanting to teach a subject that is difficult to fill. You then have a set amount of time to become degreed in that area. The AZ board of ed website is very detailed and they are very willing to answer your questions if you call. I would suggest calling the Tucson office, as it is not as busy as the Phoenix office.
