Actually buddy...the New York Post reports from the Winter Meetings are that Barry Zito is 99.9% a New York Met.
Read the article I included.

I think that it's going to be a long, drawn-out process with him. Everyone is waiting to see what Matsuzaka gets from Boston before there is any real action with pitchers. If D-Mat gets huge bucks, then established big league pitchers are going to get more, which is what is scaring a lot of people. Also, teams aren't quite sure how to view Zito. I heard Olney say on ESPN that he doesn't throw as hard as he used to, and isn't really a number one pitcher, and isn't worth $14 million per that he is seeking.

Georgie,As Strange as this might seem,,The NY Yankess don't think Zito is worth the money he's asking,It was in Todays post,There not really keen on Zito,Which really shocks me,The Muts might be getting him!! I think the Yankees are making a real big mistake not signing him,I'm sure you can count on him being a Mut next yr.

Hey ETW, feel free to watch the news. I'm fairly certain Ted Lilly (RIP) will not be making a return in the pinstripes. Do you also feel Darryl Kyle (RIP) will pitch for the Yankees this year as well? Feel free to do some research before spouting off ridiculous information.
As for Zito, he will go to NY where he will get pummeled because he is a laid-back CA surfer dude that wants nothing to do with NYM or NYY except the money. However, money talks and we'll see how that huge breaking ball works when it's cold for the 1st month of the regular season and A-Rod is booting the ball at 3rd instead of Gold-Glover Eric Chavez.

I think he'll wind up in Shea as a Met. They know they need a real ace, with the age of Glavine and the health of Pedro, they have to sign someone that can strengthen the rotation.

Stienbrenner will open his deep pockets once again!! Think about it, the Jays just got Thomas, the Sox are looking to land what's his face from Japan. The Yankees need pitching big time. Zito will take the big bucks and play for the Yankees!!

Sure Yanks got the money to get him but there not gonna give him the ace money he wants. Its looking like he'll be a met since they're in desperate need of a starter. Kinda sucks that hes prolly gonna get money he does not deserve.

I haven't heard any NY thing only that he was talking to the Rangers and someone wondered if he might join his friend Tim
Hudson in Atlanta.
