Try using a strongly concentrated goo remover such a Goof Off. Put it on a rag or cotton swab and rub the tape residue away. Careful not to spill it on the dresser though.

If you've already tried hot water (hold a hot washcloth-rag in place over it for a minute; hold a towel under you if you're working vertically), then try GOO-GONE, a liquid product you can buy at a drugstore or Home Depot-type places. You put just a little bit on the stickiness and leave it for three seconds; it usually will rub off with a clean cloth/paper towel after that. If not, repeat. This works well also for pricetags that won't come off.

There is a product called oops, that you can buy at the hardware store that will do the trick. Spray it on or dab some on a rag and rub over the sticky residue and it will come off.(may have to use a razor blade to help it off too) Of course when done you will need to go over it with a clean rag and windex.

WD-40, baby oil or mineral oil. I bet you have at least one of those around the house. After cleaning the tape off, Windex or vinegar and water will remove the oil residue. Works great!

there is a spray on adhesive remover available at most office supply and hardware stores- it is citrus based and non-solvent, the link below shows the product
in a pinch a small spray of wd-40 will work but I don't think I would recommend it for use when there is a possibility of it getting on your wooden furniture

Try a bit of peanut butter! Actually any oil based cleaner will probably do the trick, but the peanut butter has a touch of grit in it which helps.

there is a product called GOO GONE. It works soooo good for getting anything sticky out. Even gum! You can get it almost anywhere. A hardware store or wal-mart, k-mart any place like that.

Goo Gone! It works on anything sticky, gum, crayon, etc. You can find it in any store that carries household chemicals and cleaning products. Good Luck!
