You need to be educated before you can make that statement.

In Viet Nam, CONGRESS tried to run the war, by changing the rules as they went. We had a democratic congress at the time and they would start and stop the bombing at the drop of a hat.

In Iraq, the military are running the show, for now, unless and until Congress sticks its sticky fingers into the pie and screws it up.

In Viet Nam, we would take fire from the VC, have to call and get permission to return fire.

In Iraq, if fired at, you return fire. No questions asked.

The issue I have with Iraq, is that we need to expand to block the infiltration of the Iranians and Syrians into Iraq where they are causing the trouble. We need to train the Army and turn it over too them.

We have an exit strategy, but its all based on what is going on over there, and not what congress wants done.

What makes you think that the Bush supporters believe that waging war in Iraq with no exit strategy was wrong in Viet Nam, but right in Iraq. The Dems got us into Viet Nam, (Kennedy and Johnson) and pooped on the Vets as they were coming home. They also did not support the war, much like today. And through
the efforts of a Republican president, the war was ended, and troops brought home. This president also ended the draft.
The strategy in Iraq, and I believe I have heard the president say many times is "to win". when the Iraqi's are up to par, they will take over security, and our troops will start coming home. Why is that simple philosphy soooooo difficult for people to understand?
Everybodys all up in arms because our soldiers are dying in Iraq, but when they come home, most of you could give a crap about those men and women. Your whining and fretting is not helping them, it is putting them in more danger.

i do no longer think of you're being honest. The conservatives have not got an go out date for Iraq and refuse to set one. even with the indisputable fact that this would not mean they have not have been given any go out suggestions-set. The go out suggestions-set is in simple terms whilst the Iraqi people delivers for their own secure practices and the secure practices of a democratic government, then the U. S. protection stress will go away. There are already some generals talking on the subject of the possibility of reducing troop capability. If we've been to tug out too early then Iraq will fall sufferer to sectarian violence. Do liberals prefer a civil war in Iraq?

Iraq can be won. It is small groups of terrorists and millitias that are wrecking havoc in Iraq. The majority of the territory is under control and in favor of the current government. So Iraq is not a lost cause-yet.

Vietnam is different because massive numbers of Vietnamese wanted the US out and they received money, weapons, and training from the Soviet Union and Red China. We could not win because a wider war might have meant war with the Soviets or Chinese. We are not facing a similar situation now.

We lost in Vietnam because we tried to fight a politically-correct war. War is not politically-correct. Innocent people die, and mistakes are made. It's just the way it is.

We did not start this fight. They brought it to us - on our shores.

We do have an exit strategy, but, as usual, the Democrats want instant gratification. You can not set a deadline for ending a conflict. All that does it tell your enemies to lay low until a certain date, and then they'll be free to do as they wish.

We're not microwaving a frozen dinner. There is no exact time limit for how long it will take.

The problem with Iraq stems from the mindset of the advisers to the president. They were of the opinion that the general populace would readily welcome US presence with Saddam out of power. What they didn't expect was that the average Iraqi didn't have a clue about being a free person. They have lived under a dictatorship for centuries. Who could expect them to adopt western ideas of democracy in less than a generation? I knew this would happen going in. Things have turned out pretty much as I predicted.

The two conflicts were completely different in nature. Viet Nam was to support the government in place while Iraq was to remove it. Pay attention. The exit strategy planned was victory but in both cases things went bad because of politicians making military decisions. The military should be permitted to plan and execute the activity not be interrupted and dictated to by politicians.

This is one of those "have you stopped beating your wife?" questions. There is no answer because the premise is false.

A better question would be whether there actually is an exit strategy in Iraq that liberals either don't know about, or simply ignore, with the help of the media.

The answer to that is "yes", by the way.

You watch too much CNN what the hell is a exit strategy. In the past before Vietnam, and the Democrats mess that up , you went to war to win, then after the country is self reliant you leave it is really not complicated if you use that grey matter.

The reason we have no 'exit strategy' in iraq is because we intend to win the war.

Exit strategies are for losers.
