I just bought my new 360 system today, but I keep hearing about hardware problems. How do I keep it from going to MS for repairs? For example, should I keep my console standing on a vertical or horizontal position?

I don't really think that positioning is that big of an issue, the biggest issue that I have heard about regarding the Xbox 360 is overheating. My suggestions to avoid that are as follows: 1-Don't keep the 360 in confined spaces 2-Look into purchasing the Intercooler that has been made available for the 360 recently as I've heard that it prevents a great deal of problems that the 360 is notorious for.

you may play it longer than 6 hours yet what you should do is positioned your xbox so there is not some thing surrounding it so it can breathe and that i'd say vertical will be the perfect because horizontal looks to warmth up lots quicker.

I bought the Nykon intercooler for my husband's X-box 360. He's almost had it a year now and had no problems.
