Why tell them anything more. Just tell them you are NOT interested period and then don't have anything to do with them. Easy.

Wow an actual consider human being. Of course it is playing with fire and that is exactly what they want a little fire. Their relationship/marriage is burned out and they are looking for a little side action to hea thigns up again. You are fortunately smart enough to not want to be "the other woman" so great for you. However, you will never be able to change their ways. So, just tell them that you are not comfortable in this type of relationship.

No harm in friendship, however it does sound like they were interested in a lot more. Just be firm and tell them you are not interested. Even when I was married I had a number of female friends/acquaintances some of whom were very attractive,it was up to me and these ladies as to what was acceptable.

There is nothing wrong with the friendship as long as you set FIRM guidelines about the "friendship" status.
Any relationship is risky in one form or another.
Everything cannot be approached as "what if this happens...or I let this happen".
If you want to be friends you should...but just make intentions clear...and stick by those intentions.

I have had this happen too. I think it's just an ego boost for them. Don't take it too personally. Their manners are based on a different time. They just want to know if they are still attractive enough to have a young woman pay attention to them.

I have no advice for you because it sounds like you are handling the situation very well already -- just keep doing what you're doing. How refreshing to hear from someone with such a well-developed conscience!

If they are still pushing the issues tell him to talk to his wife. If he has gotten your message, that you are not interested move on and just be glad you aren't married to him.
We can not police every evil doer. Trust me Karma is a mother and he will eventually get his.

You don't need to explain it....they know. They just don't care....and you're not going to be able to make them care....
So stick to your guns, don't end up in the place where these males' significant other's are. They made a choice. You make yours. It's about all you can do.

Friendship is friendship and is up to you if you want keep it or dump it from beginning.
