They are too busy giving taxpayers money away to other countries!! When Gordon Brown made his speech about making poverty history,the UK was not included.Poverty,along with just about anything else in this country,does not exist in Gordon Browns eyes! Sadly, it does.

For a brilliant and simple economics 101 read the linked child's story. It is not true or real, but metaphorically explains why taxes will always go up (even allowing for occasional and short lived reductions) It explains why we spend more and more and get less and less for it.

After reading it, watch the linked video on google video for free. It's based on the American federal reserve, but the basic economics are the same here. A fractional reserve central bank where there is no link between money and any constant store of value. Usury, Fiat currency and fractional reserve banking are destroying the economy.

Well, to ignore the first 2 morons here...

Our country may be the third largest economy in the world, but over-spending destabilises the economy. Also, we need to watch our currency circulation, as spendign loads of money devalues it and makes it worthless, wiping out the benefit of spending.

Its just getting a careful balance between spendign and saving, tis called Market Capitalism. It has nothign to do with 'giving money to poorer nations', of which we do very litte, or linign the pockets of politicians. Thats just ignorance and rambling
