What's the plusses and minuses of satellite TV?

I'm moving into a new home and need help deciding on satellite (Dish, DirecTV) vs. Cable.

I have worked for cable, DirecTV, and Dish Network. Satellite technology is definitely better than cable. I quit doing DirecTV because they pay their technicians by the job so most of the techs were doing crappy installs because the more they do the more money they make. I kept getting in trouble for taking too long because I spent the time at each house doing the job right. I went to Dish Network where I am paid hourly. Dish network's commitment to quality and customer service is way, way higher than DirecTV. So I would highly recommend Dish Network above all others. The technology between DirecTV and Dish Network is the same, but Dish Network is cheaper.

some pluses is you can get like 280 channels or something like that for the price of cable and im not talking basic cable with nickelodeon and all that im talking just reg. tv channels! and yes it can be affected by the weather but i had satellite my whole life at my parents house and it was only affected by severe severe storms, like practically a tornado. there dont go out everytime it rains or snows there actually real nice and think of how much money you save. cable is just pretty much foolproof, or so they say but i know people with cable that get channels all messed up and channels they should get that they dont. so if both ahve faults why not save your money and go with satelite!!!

I prefer satellite tv to cable. the picture is much clearer and the customer service is better. but it does have some distortion when it rains, so if you live in a very rainy place it may bother you. but that is a small price for the better quality!

one thing I hate about satellite if your having a bad storm you lost your signal last thing you hear tornado coming your way scarey
