It means you are no Lepidopterist! It is so common that it is boring. During the Autumn and Winter months some moths are active. Unlike Butterflies they have evolved to survive at less favourable temperatures, so - they are out there now, at night , in the cold. Seeking rest during the daylight hours your Moth rested on the bed. Often the Moth`s colouring matches its resting site. They will remain still for very long periods, and can often be picked up and carried to the garden, PS Very few moths attack clothing, perhaps only 2 (VERY SMALL) are common ly found in homes, This Moth is NOT one of them!

In Japan, moths are considered in some areas to be incarnations of our ancestors. I tried to get one out of my flat once and my Japanese friend told me to leave it alone because it was watching over me. Obviously, I cannot prove whether it's true or not, but ever since I've looked at moths in a different way :) Can't believe my ancestors would want to come back as moths, though lol

Death is symbolized by many aspects of lepidoptera. In Maryland, if a white butterfly enters your house and flies around you, it foretells death. In some parts of the country, if a moth lands on the mother of a newborn child, that child will soon die. Italian-Americans view the appearance of a moth in their home as a sign of the impending death of someone they know. There is a moth in Europe called the Death's Head Sphinx Moth. It represents death to many Europeans because of the clear outline of a skull on its back. Salvador Dali made use of this symbol in an interpretation of a Currier and Ives print, "The Life of a Fireman." There are numerous other examples of lepidoptera symbolizing death. It is said if a caterpillar measures your entire length or girth you will die. Samoans felt if they captured a butterfly it meant they would be struck dead. In Brunswick, if the first butterfly spotted in spring is a white one, it was an omen of death. The Celts believed that seeing a butterfly flying at night meant death. The chrysalis or pupal stage symbolizes death in Christian art.

did it make you think of someone?
My experience has been that spirits of loved ones can visit us by manipulating or imitating natural things like butterflies, moths, birds, etc.
Usually if this is the case something about the creature makes someone just kind of pop into your head.
The last time I visited my grandmother a huge butterfly sat outside her window the entire time like it was listening to us. Its shape reminded me of my mother and I felt that my mother was there with us. My grandmother passed a few months later, I think my mom was there for her. (grandma was 91).
I've also had a bird that liked to tap on the window while I was reading like it wanted to say "hello".

Ahhh, it means that the moth, tired from flying around and hoping for a quick meal of fabric was resting on your bed and contemplating supper. That is in fact, all it means. When in doubt, assume that things are exactly as they appear. You're usually correct.
