I memorized by going over and over the material, just spending alot of time looking at it. Also, exactly like someone else said, I have made flash cards from index cards, write the term on one side and the answer on the other. I would punch a hole in the upper corner and put them on one of those rings that open and clasp shut.

Don't know what it's for, but in college I always carried flashcards on a key ring so that wherever I went - I could go over those flash cards until I memorized what it was I needed to memorize and have the answers for. For me it was just basic repitition at different times of the day that made the difference and index cards on a key ring were portable and did the trick.

I used to but I forgot! I think you make up a phrase using the first letter of "key" words
Many Very Energetic Men Jump Straight Up Near
Pluto.
This is a phrase used to recite the planets of
the solar system. I used it to obtain my Doctorate Degree in Astrophysics from the Berlin Instutute of Science and Concrete Finishing

I found that if you make Flash Cards at least 3 days prior to the test or whatever, and look at them for 30 minutes or more each day till the test really helps, lord knows how many times it helped me!
