People love to go back and forth about this, and you can until your blue in the face and in the end some are going to go with Crosby and some are going to go with Ovechkin. Crosby is a great player, and the Pen's are really trying to build that team around him and give him the supporting players to have a little breathing room if he doesn't have a stellar game every night. The similarities between Crosby and a certain "Great One" are well... Great! But though Gretzky was a great player, he was amazing offensively and that was about it. It left a bit to be desired in my opinion, and Crosby is heading down the same path. Ovechkin however doesn't have the star power surrounding him and he is a good overall player. He is amazing with what he can do offensively, he hits like no other and you will also see him hauling *** back down the ice to help out on D as well, this in my opinion separates the two of them quite a lot and gives the edge to Alex. If they ever decided to get wise in Washington and drop some cash on a good supporting cast for Ovechkin they will seriously be a cup contender!

It is hard to say. Both are great talents but in a sport like hockey where your supporting cast matters so much it is hard to simply look at the numbers. I have a feeling these two will be this generations Gretzky/Lemieux. I personally feel that Lemieux and Ovechkin have more raw natural talent then Gretzky/Crosby but the supporting cast Gretz had with the Oilers and Crosby has with the Penguins is far better than anything Lemieux had in his early career and so far better than anything Ovechkin has ever had with the Caps. Crosby/Gretzky are probably better at capitalizing on the talents of their great team but Lemieux and Ovechkin are probably better if you look at raw talent of the individual player.

Crosby is far too small (not just height, but overall size) to be an excellent all around hockey player in the NHL. Ovechkin can make plays at least as good as Crosby, but he can also do so while being hassled by an opposing player.

Crosby. I don't see Ovechkin as a team player.

Based on evidence I have so far, they are both equally dangerous.

The measure of greatness is making those around you better. Both help their linemates dramatically. Ovechkin is more of a goal scorer though. I lean towards Crosby because he's more of a playmaker.

Having said that, Ovechkin is fun as hell to watch. He really enjoys playing hockey. You can tell that by the way he plays.

Although both have a lot of talent, I like Crosby more than Ovechkin, but don't get me wrong, Ovechkin is still great.

I say Crosby's better overall. Ovechkin can oly score some pretty goals. Crosby can score, make nice passes and sees the ice like Gretzky. Also he's a leader. He's got the 'A' and will succeed Mario as captain.

i believe crosby is the better player. last year ovechkin had more goals, but hes older any way, hes more mature and experienced so that not a fair arguement. if crosby were older, without a doubt hed be the better player....just wait and see him explode as a hockey player..hell be leading the league breaking gretzkys records...
